Come and experience this summer of changes with the loveable Stedman girls.  Serious older sister Nichole must come to terms with her bitterness against her absentee father who has been gone for over a year as well as find a way to help her over-worked mother Debbie survive the struggle of raising two girls by herself.  Fun-loving and less careful younger sister Rebecca often unintentionally finds herself in a bind when her sister isn’t around to look out for her.  Although very different, Nichole and Rebecca find common ground through their shared love of riding their regal Icelandic horses Lysa and Tina. Current nonfiction children’s books by Karen Jean Matsko Hood include Adventures of My Dentist and the Tooth Fairy and My Dentist and the Tooth Fairy, which are activity and coloring books that help children not to be afraid when they go to the dentist. Hood has completed the first two books in the Oregon State educational series: Oregon State Activity and Coloring Book and Oregon State Adventures in Learning. Each of these books contains factual information about the state, which is a result of Hood’s research and travel. Each book is written for a different level of student beginning with preschool or kindergarten age with the activity and coloring book and moving up through the elementary grade levels from there.
